Hour of Power

This saturday at 9:00 am, the hour of power began nation wide. This is a swimming event in memory of Ted Mullin who passed away in the fall of 2006 from sarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer. Ted attended Carlton College, which was one of the first schools to start this event in 2006. They began with 15 teams and have grown to now having 69 swim teams participate around the country, 5 of them high schools, including Glenbrook North.
This event keeps the spirit of Ted alive along with the passion he had for swimming. GBN's girl's swim team came together this saturday and formed relay teams sprinting in 50 yard increments for an hour. They also raised money, totaling to about $1,000 which will go to research for Sarcoma Cancer at the University of Chicago. The University of Chicago agreed to times our amount raised by ten, so together, $10,000 was raised to aid in research. Over an estimated 4,000 swimmers will participate in this year's event, so together swimmers can make a difference in raising awareness for Sarcoma Cancer in memory of Ted Mullin.
